Capturing the moments that make our community radio station special
Thame Barns Centre Community Lunch
Our very own Annette Luck was out and about at the Thame Barns Centre Community Lunch, capturing the spirit of this wonderful local gathering. Annette spent time talking to the organisers and meeting members of the community who came together for good food and great company.
The Community Lunch is a fantastic initiative that brings people together in the heart of Thame. Entertainment was provided by the Thame and Haddenham Pop Choir, led by pianist Ian, adding a wonderful musical backdrop to the occasion. As you can see from the photos below, it was a lovely event with plenty of smiles and community engagement.
Christmas Party 2025
Red Kite Radio’s annual Christmas gathering was a little bit different this year – we usually go out for a meal in a restaurant, but this year Breakfast Show host Juanita Hughes and her husband James generously invited us into their beautiful home for a festive evening of food, fun and games.
After enjoying a spectacular feast of salmon and gammon followed by a multitude of naughty puddings, guests attempted to guess who the famous people were on a picture board. Newsreader Anne Robinson won a Terry’s Chocolate Orange for her magnificent score of 29 ½ out of 36.
Weekend Breakfast Show presenter Annette Luck entertained everyone with a short quiz and a series of jokes before making an important presentation to Head of Output Chris Long, who is leaving the station at the end of the year after many years of devoted duty to the station and all the members. Chris has trained most of the people working at the station today and has always been there in any emergency. He will be greatly missed and everyone wishes him best wishes, good health and happiness – and we hope he will continue to tune into 107.2fm!
The Red Kite Radio members pictured in these images are: Head of Output Chris Long; newsreader Anne Robinson; presenters Juanita Hughes (Breakfast Show on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays); Annette Luck (Breakfast Show Saturday and Sunday and Motown Magic on Tuesday evenings); Sally Russo (Afternoon Show Monday and Thursday); Donald Mcfarlane (Weekday Wind Down, Monday through to Friday); Louise Goodridge (Musicals Hour, Monday); Gary Goodridge (Music and Memories, Sunday afternoon); Clive Wagerfield (Sunday Rocks); and Heather Jan Brunt (Saturday Lunchbox).
Thank you to Heather Jan Brunt for the photos of the night.
Kop Hill Climb 2025
Red Kite Radio's Breakfast Show presenter Annette Luck represented our station at the exciting Kop Hill Climb event on Saturday 20th September. This thrilling motorsport event brought together racing enthusiasts and spectators for a day of high-speed action and community spirit.
Annette was there to capture the excitement and atmosphere of this popular local event, connecting with participants and spectators alike. As you can see from the pictures below, it was an action-packed day filled with impressive vehicles, skilled drivers, and enthusiastic crowds enjoying this spectacular motorsport event.
Community Radio Awards 2024
At the annual national Community Radio Awards, held this year in Cardiff, Red Kite Radio's Sunday Brunch presenter John Reid-Hansen was a finalist in the Best Radio Show of the Year (60+) category. There are over 300 licenced community radio stations across the country, and to be a finalist in this category was a great achievement.
John was supported at the awards by Red Kite Radio colleagues, including Breakfast Show presenter Alan Taberer and Unironic Country presenter Tamsin Starling. The Community Radio Awards ceremony brought together radio stations from across the UK to celebrate excellence in community broadcasting.
As you can see from the pictures below, the Red Kite Radio team had a great time at the Community Radio Awards, representing our station with pride and celebrating this significant recognition of our commitment to quality community radio programming.

Farmers Market 2024
Breakfast Show presenters Alan Taberer and Annette Luck and Unironic Country presenter Tamsin Starling enjoyed hosting the Red Kite Radio stand, and meeting other stallholders and visitors, at the Farmers Market on the King George V Playing Field in Wellington Avenue.
The event provided a wonderful opportunity for Red Kite Radio to connect directly with the local community, showcasing our commitment to serving Thame, Haddenham, Chinnor, Princes Risborough and the surrounding villages.
